Where do we start! . .

Walkers, Ramblers & Climbers

We are 500 yards off the Pennine Way (www.nationaltrail.co.uk/PennineWay), and less than 4 miles away from Malham and Gordale Scar (www.malhamdale.com). Ingleborough (www.ingleboroughcave.co.uk), and Stump Cross Caverns (www.stumpcrosscaverns.co.uk) are a short drive away. We have a library of books & pamphlets giving walkers of all ages and energy levels enough choice to keep them busy for many a day. Pony trekking is available from the Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre in Malham (www.ydtc.net). Bookings can be made by request.

Shopping

The market towns of Skipton (www.skiptonweb.co.uk) market days Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, and Settle (www.settle.co.uk) market day Tuesday, offer great shopping experiences and a wealth of cafes bars & restaurants to take a break between credit card bashing!!

Sight Seeing

Skipton Castle (www.skiptoncastle.co.uk) is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England. Bolton Abbey (www.boltonabbey.com) is a short drive away and not to be missed. Grassington (www.grassington.uk.com) is again about a 15 minute drive and one of the prettiest villages in the UK, let alone the Dales, and always seems to have something going on from Farmers Markets, to Festivals to Fairs. Haworth (www.haworth-village.org.uk), home to the Bronte family and Hovis adverts is less than an hours drive away to the south.

Others

Bird watching. The Peregrine Falcons at Malham Cove are one of the treasures of the RSPB. Off roading. There are several ways to enjoy off road pursuits in the Dales. Ask for more details. BBC Gardeners World’s favourite Harlow Carr (www.rhs.org.uk/whatson/gardens/harlowcarr) is again just a short drive across the southern dales for the keen gardener.

And of Course – The Railway!

We have three of the country’s most famous railways nearby, from right on our doorstep, to little more than half an hours drive away. The Settle – Carlisle railway (www.settle-carlisle.co.uk) must be one of the most famous stretches of track in the entire world. Regular runnings of famous old engines along this line make it an un-missable item – and the original line runs right past the back door!! Please contact us for details of when th steam engines are due past. Closely followed by the Embsay & Bolton Abbey (www.embsayboltonabbeyrailway.org.uk) steam railway which has steam engines running almost year round. Check the web site for detail. Finally the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (www.kwvr.co.uk) again runs most of the year. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee Jenny Agutter will still be waving on the platform but it is well worth a visit nonetheless!

We have only just scratched the surface of what this wonderful part of the world has to offer – how long can you stay?????
